This is my second hike since breaking my ankle in September and it was definitely much more strenuous than the last one. It wasn’t planned like most of my hikes are. I believe it’s a newer park and I checked a map to see what looked good in the area and saw there’s a swimming hole and waterfalls.
It was pretty bad fog on the way down, but it cleared up nicely when I got there. The parking is a bit tricky, but I pulled myself between a car and truck that had too much space between them. The parking isn’t marked and it’s all gravel and earth so people park however and that makes it tricky, but I did see there is a lower parking section which had plenty of space at the time.
I wanted an easy hike so I went toward Blue Hole, but when I got to the creek crossing, I decided that would be too difficult in my current condition, and went toward Stripmine Falls. That was a hell of a climb. I believe the internet says it’s close to 600 feet, but it felt higher.
Climbing isn’t too bad for me. Going down hill is what hurts. Maybe I shouldn’t be hiking, but my doctor said 4-5 days of physical therapy a week for five to six weeks and that’s $40 a visit. So I climb mountains instead. It really does get my foot to bend in every different way. Enjoy!
